My next camera – Canon C300

My next camera? Maybe. After doing some serious video shooting with the 5d & 60d this past few months I’m quickly finding the limitations of the DSLRs. Most of the problems come from the “moire” issues, weird stair stepping and strange artifacts caused by, to my understanding, making a 21meg sensor produce a 3meg HD video signal. I love my DSLRs, there small, have awesome shallow depth of field and are pretty amazing in low light.

Canon has released the new C300 which is the answer to all of the DSLR issues. The catch, it DOES NOT take still images. Everybody’s geeked about the Red Scarlet but the workflow issues are hard to ignore. The C300 is the next logical step up for the DSLR video shooter. The biggest step being the price… $13k!
